Green expanses populated by magnificent, solitary trees and wooded groves are bordered by high forests, striking rhododendron bushes and tranquil waterways.
Of the original features, the following can still be seen today: a neo-classical pavilion on the Schlosswiese, the swan pond and the crucifix oak, as well as “Karlsruhe”, the Adamsteich and Andreasteich (ponds) and the Moritzwäldchen and Andreaswäldchen (copses) – all named after members of the family.
Fabulous views in the park and of the surrounding countryside, an extensive network of pedestrian paths and a wide variety of dendrological treasures, including one of the largest tulip trees in Saxony, make Gaussig one of Upper Lusatia’s most beautiful landscape parks – which truly comes into its own when the rhododendrons are in bloom.
Gaussig belongs to the “Gartenkulturpfad Parks und Gärten beiderseits der Neiße”, a network of parks and gardens that aims to promote the importance of green spaces in the region.
